Cast and crew of Just Add Water

cast and crew of just add water underwater magic show rehearsing for the first showIt takes quite a few people to make this show. Take a moment to get to know our the folks who make this all possible.

The show is created by Paul Nathan and Martin Mall and is an Unusual Production in associate with Climate Theater (USA), GOP Theater (Germany), and Dive4Life. You can see Paul Nathan in Quilitz (Essen, Germany - November - December) and Martin in Licht Gestalten (München, Germany - November - December).

Manfred Narres owner of dive4lifeSahra and Manfred Narres - Own and opperate dive4life along with a great team of knowledgable folks who helped us out all along the way. Not only was the show inspired by this beautiful dive location but we could not have made it happen without the support of the staff at dive4life.

Georg Nies did the photography. If you see a great photo here then Georg shot it. Georg Nies is one of the top underwater photographers in the world todayGeorg is a fantastic photographer who brought a lot of creativity and ideas to the project. You can see more of his work at www.uwf.de. While you are there you can check out some of the best underwater photo gear on the market today.

Our onsite but out of water Assistant is Marie Pierre Campo. When you see a photo of us working with Georg, that was MP. She fed us, kept us dry, got us wet, and generally helped make it all happen.

Underwater magic show - just add waterPaul Spiegel. Paul is our legal council and one of the initial funders of the new Climate Theater. Paul S. keeps Paul N out of jail and on stage where he belongs - mostly.

Paul Nathan (HBO, MTV, Star Trek Voyager) stars in this enthralling blend of magic, comedy, and wetness.

Martin Mall Last year Martin jumped out of an airplane to do the world's highest card trick. This year Martin takes to the water for magic ten meters below. Next year Martin stars in a show with Lazers.

Bob Mendelsohn at Damp Rabbit Productions brainstormed with us until the wee hours of the night. He inspired some of our best ideas for this show.

We recommend these GOP shows:

A note from the Paul:

I came upon the Dive 4 Life facilities by accident. A romantic laison with a model who was booked into the hotel for a photo shoot. When I logged on to the hotel's website looking for directions I found that connected to it is the most beautiful indoor diving facility in Germany.

I have dove some of the loveliest sites in the world - Guam, Hawaii, Australia, Honduras but this was different. A static environment offered a stage unlike any in history and I knew I had to create a show for this venue. Fortunately the Manfred and Sahra were into the idea. Unfortunately, it's a lot harder than I thought.

I had hoped to do a classic close up magic show, cards, coins, and a few other small objects for an intimate audience of fellow dive enthusiasts. I have plastic cards that won't fall apart underwater. They do, however, stick together when wet. This makes even the simplest manipulation a daunting task. Simple conversations become a clownish endevour as I attempt to impart the simplest of explinations or instructions. In short, I had to re-think everything I know about performing magic.

As I write this we are just two weeks away from show time and I am on my way to rehearse underwater. This is my second time in the tank working on ths project. I have modified every slight I will be performing. I have created new revelations that will only work underwater if they even work at all. Most daunting of all, I will have to break about a dozen basic safety rules to make this show work. Removing my BC, tank, mask, and flipers.

Wish me luck...

Paul Nathan - Münster, Germany 2012
